Description

The XLED is a directional GU10 spotlight bulb that twist-locks straight into a standard GU10 mains holder, with no transformer required (unlike the low-voltage GU5.3/MR16 cap, which needs a separate driver). It draws just 6.5W while delivering 850 lumens, so it replaces an old 88W spotlight on far less power. The light is a crisp 6500K daylight tone, and the wide 100 degree beam spreads the output across a broad area rather than a tight pinspot, giving even coverage for general spotlighting.

This bulb suits recessed downlight fittings, ceiling spotlight bars and track heads in kitchens, hallways, living rooms and home offices, anywhere a clean, bright daylight tone is wanted for tasks and detail. The 100 degree beam makes it a good fit for spacing several heads across a ceiling for broad, washed coverage, while the daylight colour keeps worktops and reading areas looking sharp. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor use, so keep it to internal rooms rather than bathrooms, porches or any damp position, where suitability would depend on the fitting in any case.

Built on a PAR16 spotlight format in a silver finish, the XLED measures just 50mm in diameter and 53mm deep, matching the footprint of the halogen GU10 it succeeds, and weighs only 46g. Colour rendering is rated at Ra 80 for natural enough tones across everyday rooms, and the rated life is 25,000 hours, cutting how often the bulb needs swapping. Running on 220-240V AC mains, it is a non-dimmable bulb, so pair it with a standard switch rather than a dimmer. Other caps and shapes are stocked across the wider XLED range for matching the rest of a lighting scheme.

Frequently Asked

Which fitting does this bulb need?

It has a GU10 twist-lock cap, the standard mains spotlight fitting used in most recessed downlights, ceiling spotlight bars and track heads. You push it in and give a quarter turn to lock it. As a mains GU10 it does not need a transformer, unlike a low-voltage GU5.3/MR16 spot.

What old bulb wattage does it replace?

At 6.5W of actual draw it produces 850 lumens, which is equivalent to an old 88W halogen spotlight. The bulb itself only ever uses 6.5W, so you get a similar brightness for a fraction of the running cost.

Is this bulb dimmable?

No, the XLED GU10 is non-dimmable, so it should be wired to a standard on/off switch rather than a dimmer. Using it on a dimmer circuit can cause flicker or shorten its life.

What beam angle and colour does it give?

It has a wide 100 degree beam, which spreads light over a broad area instead of a narrow spot, making it good for general coverage from several heads. The colour is a 6500K daylight tone with Ra 80 colour rendering, giving a crisp, bright light well suited to kitchens and task areas.
