Description
The Xerto EL is a garden spike light with a built-in PIR sensor, putting out up to 1800 lumens from its 20W LED at a wide 150 degree beam. Colour is selectable across three tones, 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral and 6500K daylight, so the same fitting can read soft against planting or crisp against paving. Across US landscape lighting it sits alongside terms like landscape spike light and pathway light, staked into a border to graze a wall or wash a planted bed.
Staked into soil or a planting border, the Xerto EL suits sheltered garden spots such as porches, carports and covered patios, picking out shrubs, low trees, fences or a feature wall as people pass. The PIR brings the light up on approach, which makes it a practical pick for paths and entrances rather than constant background glow. Its coverage is a directional wash rather than ambient room lighting, with the wide 150 degree beam throwing across a planted area or up a façade, so output is best judged by reach and spread rather than a floor area.
Built from black aluminium alloy with a rectangular head, the fitting runs on 220-240V AC mains and carries an IP44 rating, splash-resistant and fit for covered or sheltered positions rather than fully exposed or jetted ones. It is not dimmable and is rated to 25,000 hours, with the integrated PIR handling switching. The spike pushes straight into the ground for tool-free positioning, and the black finish keeps it discreet among foliage. This spike sits within our wider Xerto range of outdoor and ground lighting.

Frequently Asked
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, within limits. The IP44 rating makes it splash-resistant and suited to sheltered or covered outdoor spots such as porches and carports. Keep it clear of fully exposed positions, direct water jets and standing water.
How does the PIR sensor work?
The built-in PIR detects movement nearby and switches the light on automatically, then off again after a set period. This makes it useful along paths and entrances where you want light only on approach rather than running all night.
How do I change the colour temperature?
The fitting is colour selectable across 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white and 6500K daylight. You can pick the tone that best suits the planting or surface you are lighting, warmer for borders and cooler for paving or stone.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the lens and aluminium body with a soft damp cloth, with the power off and the unit cool. Avoid abrasive pads or solvents so the black finish and lens stay clear, and clear away any soil or leaf debris around the head.
