Whitecap 4 Light Glass Semi Flush Ceiling Light - Black

The Quoizel Whitecap is a 395mm semi-flush ceiling light built around a single moulded amber glass shade shaped like a scalloped flower, with each petal curving outward from a central matt black canopy. Four E14 bulbs sit inside the glass bowl (sold separately), casting light through the textured amber glass which diffuses and warms the output. The 255mm projection from ceiling to base keeps the fitting close to the ceiling while the wide glass canopy provides generous light spread.

Designed for rooms with standard 2.4m ceiling heights where a full pendant would hang too low, the Whitecap suits entrance halls, kitchens, bedrooms and low-ceiling living rooms. The semi-flush mount fits a standard UK ceiling rose and the glass shade is held in place by a black metal frame that slots into the canopy. The scalloped petal profile gives the glass dimensional interest when viewed from below, catching and refracting light along each ridge.

The amber tone of the glass adds warmth to the light output regardless of bulb choice, making cooler-temperature LEDs feel less clinical. The matt black metalwork provides contrast against the translucent amber, and the finish sits comfortably with both traditional oak-and-brass interiors and more contemporary schemes using dark metals and warm neutrals. What bulbs does it take?

The Whitecap takes four E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for ambient room lighting.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 255mm projection from ceiling to base makes the Whitecap suitable for standard 2.4m ceiling heights. The semi-flush design keeps the fitting close to the ceiling while the 395mm-wide glass shade provides broad light distribution.

How is the glass shade fitted?

The moulded amber glass bowl slots into a black metal frame that fixes to the ceiling canopy. The shade can be removed for bulb changes by releasing the frame clips, then re-seated without tools.

Does the amber glass affect bulb colour?

Yes. The amber tone warms any light passing through it, making cooler-temperature LEDs appear warmer than their rated colour temperature. This is a feature of the design, reducing the clinical feel of daylight-white bulbs.
