Description

This is a matching milk jug and sugar bowl in white stoneware, sold together as a set of two and each stamped with a cheerful quote. The jug reads "Sweet cream is a dream" with "I'm whipped" beneath, while the lidded bowl reads "Gimme some sugar" above "hugs & kisses". The jug is 9.5cm tall and 8.5cm across, with a pouring lip and a curved loop handle. The bowl stands 11cm tall and 9cm across with its lid in place, and the lid has a round knob that is easy to lift. The stated capacity is 370ml. These are table-sized pieces, made for passing round with a pot of tea rather than for storing sugar in bulk.

Put them out at breakfast beside the teapot, or carry them through on a tray when friends come round for coffee and cake. The jug holds milk or cream for tea and coffee, and the lid keeps the sugar covered between cups, whether you take it as cubes or granulated. The quotes give them a sense of humour that suits a relaxed family kitchen, a café-style breakfast nook or a weekend brunch table, and the pair makes a fun housewarming or wedding gift for anyone who loves a proper tea tray. The jug is just as happy holding warm syrup for pancakes or custard for a pudding.

Both pieces are 100% stoneware, a dense and hard-wearing ceramic, and each quote is stamped on as decoration. They can go in the dishwasher, the microwave and the oven, so clearing up after breakfast is easy and you can warm milk in the jug in the microwave before pouring. The weight given is 0.566KG. Keep the pair side by side on an open shelf with the quotes facing out, next to plain mugs and a wooden board, and they look as good waiting as they do on the table.
