Description
The Vetra is a 1.85m floor lamp built around a 24cm opal glass globe held on a slim polished chrome arm. The arm rises from a circular weighted disc base, runs vertically, then cantilevers out at the top to position the globe off-centre from the column. A single E27 lamp sits inside the opal glass, washing the room with diffused light through the frosted sphere.
The off-centre globe makes the Vetra suited to reading corners, beside an armchair or sofa, where the head can sit over the arm of the seat rather than behind it. It also works well next to a console or in a bedroom corner as ambient lighting. The slim chrome column has a small footprint, so the lamp fits into tighter spots than a tripod or wider-base floor lamp.
The opal glass diffuses the bulb evenly across the entire sphere, removing the bright filament hotspot you get with clear glass globes and giving a soft, even glow. Polished chrome on the arm and base catches surrounding light and pairs cleanly with mid-grey, off-white and cool-toned interiors, as well as glass and mirrored furniture. At 8.35kg the lamp is substantial enough to stay stable when knocked, with the weight concentrated in the disc base.

Frequently Asked
Does the lamp come with a bulb?
No, the bulb is sold separately. The fitting takes a single E27 (Edison screw) lamp. A warm-white LED globe between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K pairs well with the opal glass for ambient lounge or bedroom light.
Is the Vetra dimmable?
The lamp is wired for standard 220-240V mains. Dimming depends on the bulb fitted and the dimmer used: a dimmable LED E27 bulb paired with a compatible LED dimmer will allow brightness adjustment.
How big is the base and is it stable?
The lamp uses a circular polished chrome disc base with the arm offset to one side. At 8.35kg total weight, most of the mass sits in the base, keeping the 1.85m column stable on hard floors and short-pile rugs.
How is the opal glass cleaned?
Switch the lamp off and let the bulb cool fully. Wipe the globe with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For fingerprints or marks, use a barely-damp cloth with a small amount of glass cleaner applied to the cloth rather than sprayed directly on the globe.
