Description
Twenty light points sit behind opal white acrylic on a polished chrome frame, spanning 103cm across at its widest. The LED is built in and gives a warm white light, softened by the acrylic so the output reads as a broad, even glow rather than a series of hard bright points. Relay switching lets you bring the fitting up in stages, so it can work at part output on a quiet evening and at full strength when the room is full.
This is a large fitting and it wants space around it. We would hang it in a double height hall, over a stairwell, or above a long dining table in a room with generous ceiling height, where its width can be read from below as well as from the side. The drop can be set within a range, so it sits high in a void or lower where a table needs covering. It is not dimmable, though the relay stages give a useful measure of control over how much of the room is lit.
The acrylic is opal white and the metalwork polished chrome throughout, a pairing that returns light rather than absorbing it. Cleaning is a matter of wiping the acrylic with a soft cloth damped in warm water and a little washing up liquid, then drying it; solvents and abrasive creams will haze acrylic for good, and the chrome only wants a dry buff. Switch the light off at the wall and let it cool before you go near it. It carries a three year warranty. The same chrome and opal acrylic run through the rest of the Versailles range, which includes smaller ceiling lights and wall lights if you want the two to answer each other in one room. The LED is integrated, so there is nothing to swap out.

Frequently Asked
How much light does it give, and what colour is it?
It produces around 12339 lumens at 3000K, a warm white that stays on the yellow side of neutral and suits halls, stairwells and dining rooms. Total load is 256W.
Can the hanging height be adjusted?
Yes. The drop can be set between 1000mm and 2000mm, so the fitting can be lifted high in a double height space or dropped closer over a table.
How does the relay switching work?
The fitting is wired to switch in three stages, so successive presses bring more of the light into play. It gives you low, medium and full output without a dimmer.
Is it dimmable?
No. Output is fixed at each relay stage, so a dimmer switch should not be used with it.
How do I keep the acrylic looking clear?
Warm water with a drop of washing up liquid on a soft, lint free cloth, then dry immediately. Avoid glass cleaner, white spirit, alcohol wipes and any abrasive cream, as these scratch or cloud acrylic and the marks cannot be polished out.
How heavy is it?
It weighs 14.3kg and arrives in an oversized carton, so it travels on a pallet rather than by courier.
