Description
Gold-tinted glass drawn into a slow spiral gives this little candle lamp its character, with the twist visible from every angle once it is lit. It draws 4W and glows at a deep 2200K, closer to the amber of an old filament than to ordinary warm white, so the light it throws is soft and slightly honeyed. The small screw cap suits the majority of chandelier arms and lamp holders, and light leaves the glass all round rather than in a beam. It is not a dimmable lamp, so it wants a plain switched circuit.
We reach for bulbs like this where the glass is part of the look: open chandeliers over a dining table, wall lights with no shade at all, small pendants above a kitchen island, and table lamps whose shades sit high enough for the twist to show. The gentle output and the amber tone make it a mood lamp rather than a working one, so we would put several across a multi-arm fitting rather than ask one to light a whole room. It suits anyone dressing a period room, and it flatters brass, copper and aged bronze metalwork particularly well.
The body is glass throughout, gold in colour, with the electronics tucked away inside the base of the cap. To clean it, switch off and let the glass go cold, then run a dry duster along the spiral; nothing wet and no polish, because the colour belongs to the glass itself and does not want scrubbing. It carries a five year warranty. In a fitting with several holders we like mixing this twisted shape with plain candle glass, letting the spiral catch the eye where it sits closest to the room.

Frequently Asked
How bright is it compared with an old filament candle bulb?
It gives 330 lumens, which is in the region of a 25W incandescent candle. Think of it as decorative, glowing light rather than task lighting.
Will it fit a small chandelier holder?
It uses an E14 small screw cap and measures 35mm across the widest point of the glass, with an overall height of 96mm, so it sits comfortably in most candle holders.
Can I put it on a dimmer?
No. This one is non-dimmable and should be run from an ordinary switched circuit.
What does 2200K actually look like?
It is an extra warm, amber light, noticeably deeper and more golden than standard warm white, which is why it works well in exposed fittings.
Is the gold a coating that can rub off?
The tint is part of the glass, so a dry cloth is all it needs. Avoid solvents, sprays and abrasive cleaners.
How long should it last?
It is rated at 15,000 hours of average life, and it is a sealed lamp with no separate parts to replace.
