Description

The Knightsbridge NETCAT5WH is a CAT5e RJ45 network outlet module designed for euro-module faceplates, measuring 25 x 50mm with an 18mm recessed depth. The module provides a single RJ45 socket for Ethernet connections up to CAT5e specification, with IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) terminals on the rear for tool-free cable termination.

Designed for residential and light commercial network installations, the module fits into modular grid plates commonly used in UK electrical accessories, allowing network outlets to be combined with power sockets, switches and other modules in a single faceplate assembly. The 25mm minimum back box depth requirement allows installation into standard single-gang back boxes alongside other euro-modules.

The white ABS construction provides a neutral finish that blends with white and light-coloured wall plates. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations such as home offices, living rooms and bedrooms. The IDC terminals accept solid core UTP CAT5e cable (not supplied) and allow the cable to be punched down using a standard 110-type termination tool, eliminating the need for crimping or soldering.

The module is designed for solid core UTP CAT5e cable. The IDC terminals are not compatible with stranded cable, which is typically used in patch leads rather than fixed installations.

What tool is needed to terminate the cable?

A standard 110-type punch-down tool is required to terminate the cable into the IDC terminals. The tool pushes the cable into the terminal slots and cuts off the excess wire in a single action.

Can this be used in a bathroom or kitchen?

The IP20 rating means the module is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It should not be installed in zones where water splashing or high humidity is present, such as directly above kitchen sinks or within bathroom splash zones.

What faceplates is this module compatible with?

The 25 x 50mm euro-module format is compatible with standard UK modular grid plates from Knightsbridge and other manufacturers offering the same grid system. The module clips into the grid plate and can be combined with other 25mm-wide modules to create multi-function faceplates.
