Description

A low, square-set post light for the garden, finished in graphite from top to bottom. The body is 16cm across and stands 19cm tall, so it sits down among planting, gravel and paving rather than looming over it. It takes an E27 lamp, and we would fit an LED GLS A60 for a warm, ambient pool of light at ground level rather than a hard beam. There is no switch on the fitting itself, and dimming is possible where the lamp and dimmer are chosen to suit.

This is the sort of light we reach for along a path, at the turn of a driveway, on a low garden wall or on either side of a set of steps, where you want the route marked without flooding the whole plot. It is rated for outdoor use and shrugs off rain and dust, so an exposed spot near a gate or a patio edge is no trouble. In pairs or in a short run, it gives a front garden shape after dark; on its own it does a quiet job by a back door. A lamp of up to 20W is all it needs.

The graphite sits happily against stone, render, brick and timber, and stays discreet by day when the fitting is not doing anything. Keep the housing clear of leaf litter and cobwebs, give it a wipe with a damp cloth when you tidy the borders, and let the lamp cool before you touch it. It carries a two year warranty. We stock this pedestal in sand brown and white as well as graphite, and the wider range takes in wall lamps, up and down wall lamps and ceiling lights in the same three finishes, so a porch, a wall and a path can all be dressed to match. Lamps are not included.
