Description
The Utah is a 250mm square outdoor flush ceiling light built around a graphite powder-coated metal frame with a frosted white acrylic diffuser on all four sides and the front face. Two E27 bulb holders inside the box distribute light through the frosted panels, creating even ambient illumination without hotspots or harsh shadows. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making the fitting suitable for covered outdoor locations exposed to rain splash and moisture.
Designed for covered patios, entrance porches, outdoor corridors and sheltered garden walkways, the Utah mounts flush to the ceiling with a 100mm projection from the surface. The square footprint and uniform light distribution work well above doorways, in corner positions on covered decking, and along the eaves of garages or outbuildings where a consistent wash of light is needed. The graphite finish pairs with contemporary render, slate grey cladding, Anthracite window frames and charcoal-painted woodwork.
The frosted white diffuser softens the output from the two E27 bulbs (sold separately), allowing flexibility to choose warm-white LEDs between 2700K-3000K for outdoor entertaining areas or cooler 4000K-5000K for security and task lighting. Each E27 socket accepts bulbs up to the wattage limit specified in the fitting (check Specification tab), giving control over brightness depending on the size of the area being lit. The graphite finish is a dark charcoal grey rather than true black, providing contrast without absorbing all ambient light during the day.

Frequently Asked
What does IP65 mean in practice?
IP65 means the fitting is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for covered outdoor areas that see rain splash, humidity and occasional hosing down, but not for direct rainfall exposure or submersion. Install the Utah under a porch roof, patio canopy or eaves overhang rather than fully exposed to the sky.
What bulbs does it take?
The Utah takes two standard E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient outdoor lighting, or cooler 4000K bulbs for higher visibility and security lighting. Check the Specification tab for the maximum wattage per socket.
Can it be mounted on a wall instead of a ceiling?
The Utah is designed as a ceiling flush mount. Wall mounting would require the fixing points to align with the back plate orientation, and the light would project outwards rather than downwards. For wall positions, consider a dedicated outdoor wall light rather than adapting a ceiling fitting.
How is the graphite finish maintained outdoors?
The powder-coated graphite finish can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners or wire brushes that scratch the coating. In coastal or industrial environments, clean the fitting every few months to prevent salt or pollution residue from building up on the surface.
