Description

The Umbra is a 63cm flush ceiling light comprising three overlapping metal discs in matt gold, matt black and matt white finishes, each with an integrated LED edge that glows through an opal acrylic diffuser panel. The asymmetric arrangement of the discs creates a sculptural composition when viewed from below, with each disc contributing a different size and proportion to the overall form. The integrated 32W 3000K LED produces warm white light across the combined surface area.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.2m and 2.7m where a pendant would hang too low, the Umbra sits just 6cm from the ceiling and provides both ambient light and a ceiling feature. The fixture works well in bedrooms, studies, compact living rooms and hallways where the ceiling is the only available mounting surface for decorative lighting. The gold, black and white discs give the fitting a contemporary multi-tonal finish that pairs with interiors using mixed metal accents or monochrome palettes.

The fitting weighs 4.8kg and requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or a plasterboard fitting using the supplied gravity toggles. The LED driver supports both TRIAC and 0-10V dimming protocols, allowing the light to be controlled via most UK trailing-edge and leading-edge dimmers as well as 0-10V control systems used in smart home installations. The IP20 rating limits the Umbra to dry indoor use only — it is not suitable for bathrooms or outdoor covered areas.

The three discs measure approximately 40cm, 30cm and 20cm in diameter (based on the 63cm overall width and 40cm depth dimensions), with each disc offset to create depth and shadow variation when lit. The opal acrylic panels soften the LED edge glow and prevent glare when the fitting is viewed from typical standing or seated positions below.

Yes. The integrated LED driver supports both TRIAC dimming (trailing-edge and leading-edge UK dimmers) and 0-10V control. Most UK household dimmers rated for LED loads will work, though compatibility with specific dimmer models should be checked before installation.
