Description

Ultra Square is a ceiling light in white. A square white panel set tight against the ceiling, its face a flat diffuser that glows evenly corner to corner with no lamp showing behind it. A slim dark trim runs round the top edge where the panel meets the ceiling, so the face reads as a pale square with a fine dark line round it. The corners are softly radiused rather than sharp. The body is very shallow, barely proud of the plaster. There is nothing else on the face at all.

Mounted flush it clears a doorway and a low ceiling, so a corridor, a landing or a small bedroom is its territory, and it lights the whole room evenly rather than pooling on one surface. It is the light you put in first and stop noticing, which is the point of a flush fitting: it does the general lighting so the lamps in the room can do the rest.

The LED is built in at 18W, so there is no bulb to buy and none to fit. It has 3 brightness settings, changed by switching off at the wall and straight back on, so no dimmer is needed. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms. It carries an F energy label.

Do I need to buy a bulb?

No. The LED is built into the fitting, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to fit.

What happens when the LED fails?

The fitting is replaced rather than relamped. At 18W and normal domestic use that is many years away.

How do I change the brightness?

Switch off at the wall and straight back on. Each flick moves it to the next setting. No dimmer is needed.

Will it work on a dimmer?

It does not need one, and it should not be fitted to one. Brightness is controlled from the wall switch instead.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
