Description

The Tropic is a 6-light chandelier built around six curved brass arms extending from a central stem, each arm terminating in a hammered brass leaf-shaped shade paired with a frosted glass globe. The brass is finished in satin rather than polished, giving it a soft lustre that reduces harsh reflections. Each of the six G9 bulb positions sits within its own frosted glass sphere, diffusing the light outward through both the glass and the gaps between the brass leaf elements.

Designed for dining rooms and living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above, the chandelier has a 75cm diameter spread and an adjustable drop ranging from 56.5cm to 85.2cm depending on how much of the stem is used during installation. The hammered texture on the brass leaves creates a faceted surface that catches and reflects ambient light differently throughout the day. The six-arm configuration provides even light distribution across a dining table or seating area without concentrating brightness in a single direction.

The brass construction and metal framework give the fitting a weight of approximately 3.5-4kg, requiring a ceiling fixing rated for chandelier loads. The ethnic-inspired embossing on the brass leaf shades adds geometric detail without dominating the overall form. The frosted glass globes measure approximately 10cm diameter each and hide the bulb filament while allowing the G9 light source to illuminate the interior of each sphere. The satin brass finish pairs with warm-toned interiors, brass hardware, and both contemporary and transitional schemes where metal accents are already present.

What bulbs does it take?

The chandelier takes six G9 capsule bulbs, each rated up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations use G9 LED bulbs between 3-5W in warm white (2700K-3000K) to match the brass tone.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable drop ranges from 56.5cm to 85.2cm. For a dining table the chandelier typically hangs 75-85cm above the table surface, which requires a ceiling height of at least 2.6m. Lower ceilings can use the minimum drop setting.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the G9 bulbs you fit. Choose dimmable G9 LED bulbs and pair them with a trailing-edge LED dimmer for smooth control. Non-dimmable G9 LEDs will not dim and may flicker or buzz if connected to a dimmer circuit.

How is the brass maintained?

The satin brass finish can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or smudges, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water and dry immediately. Avoid brass polish or abrasive cleaners as they will alter the satin finish.
