The Trismelle is a compact wall spotlight in a matt brass finish, with a fluted cylindrical head set on a round wall plate. Fine ridges run the length of the head and catch the light, giving a simple shape a tailored look. The body is aluminium and steel. It measures 10.5cm in length and 11cm in height, and projects 12.5cm from the wall, so it sits neatly beside a bed or above a shelf without crowding the space. It takes one GU10 bulb of up to 5W. The IP20 rating settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms, away from water.

Because the head angles on its short arm, you can aim the beam where it is wanted: across a page at the bedside, down onto a desk, or towards a picture or a run of shelves. We like them in pairs either side of a bed, where they make a tidy reading arrangement that keeps the bedside tables clear. The warm brass tone sits comfortably against plain plaster, painted brick and patterned wallpaper alike, and the fluting gives quiet texture to a bedroom, living room, study or hallway. A rocker switch sits on the wall plate, so the light has its own control at the fitting.
