Description

A compact rectangle for outside walls, finished in sand white with a clear diffuser across the face. At 68mm wide and 100mm tall it is one of the smaller exterior fittings we sell, and its shallow projection keeps it clear of a door swing or a narrow path. It takes a GU10 lamp of up to 50W, and we would fit an LED reflector lamp in it for a tidy, controlled pool of light.

It earns its keep by a back door, over a garage side entrance, along a narrow passage, or on a garden wall where you want light on a step rather than across the whole plot. It is sealed against dust and splashing water, so rain and hose spray are no trouble. There is no switch on the body, so it runs from an indoor switch, a timer or a sensor circuit, and if you want it to dim, pick a dimmable lamp to suit your dimmer. It suits flats, courtyards and small terraces where a lantern would look heavy.

The sand white finish is a fine, slightly textured matt that hides fingerprints and weathers well, and the clear front lets the lamp do the work without tinting the light. Keep it looking right by wiping the body and diffuser over now and then with a damp cloth and drying it off, more often near the coast where salt builds up on exposed walls. It carries a two year warranty. We stock the same rectangle in sand black, and there is a curved version of both, plus versions that take an extra lamp if you want light thrown up as well as down. Lamps are not included.
