The Tilston is a twin-rod floor lamp in a muted green steel, with two cylindrical spot heads set at different heights on a pair of slim upright rods. It stands 142.5cm tall on a round base 22cm in diameter, so it takes up very little floor space and slips neatly into a corner beside a chair or sofa. Each head takes an E14 bulb of up to 8W, and the bulbs are not included. The lamp is rated IP20, which means it belongs indoors in a dry room.

Because each head can be angled, we find it works hardest in a living room or a bedroom reading corner: point one head towards the pages of a book and turn the other towards the wall for a softer wash of light. It suits anyone who wants two pools of light from a single slim footprint, without the bulk of a traditional standard lamp. The green is calm and earthy, sitting comfortably alongside timber floors, houseplants and grey or neutral upholstery, and it brings a touch of colour to a room without shouting.

The body is made of steel, a strong and rigid material, and the packed weight is 3.63KG. A cord switch sits along the black flex, so you can turn the lamp on and off without reaching behind furniture. It runs at 220-240V, 50/60Hz, a standard household supply.
