Terra Tabac Leaf Vanity Tin Scented Candle

Our Terra Tabac candle comes in a vanity tin: a round iron tin printed all round with a brown leaf pattern, with a fitted lid that sits over the top. Inside is 335g of soy and paraffin wax around a single cotton wick, with a burn time of 50 hours. It measures 9.7cm across and 8.5cm tall and is a little wider than it is tall, a squat, steady shape that fits on a small surface without crowding it. The whole candle weighs 0.48KG, so it is light enough to move from room to room.

A candle this size suits the spots where a large jar would feel too much: a bedside table, a bathroom shelf, a desk or the end of a bookcase. The leaf pattern runs all the way round the tin, so it looks as good in the middle of a coffee table as it does against a wall. When the candle is not lit, the lid goes back on to keep dust off the wax, and with the lid in place it looks tidy enough to leave out on a dressing table. It also makes a straightforward gift, because the patterned tin is ready to hand over as it is.

The tin itself is iron, the wick is cotton and the wax is a blend of soy and paraffin. A rolled rim finishes the base of the tin, and the lid has a smooth, plain top that sets off the patterned sides. With a burn time of 50 hours, this is a candle for everyday evenings rather than one saved for best. For a simple arrangement, stand it on a small wooden tray beside a few books, or put it next to a small plant on a shelf so the leaf pattern has something to answer. The styling props shown are not included.
