Description

A square white trim with a clean edge, this is a compact recessed spotlight for ceilings where you want light without much hardware on show. The face measures 8.5cm across, so it reads as a small square of white against a painted ceiling rather than a fitting. Behind it sits a GU10 socket, ready for a reflector LED of up to 12W, and the lamp is switched rather than dimmed. We stock it with a square or a round face, and this is the one we choose where a ceiling has other square lines to follow.

Sealed against dust and splashes, it is happy in rooms where steam and cooking spatter come with the territory: kitchen ceilings, utility rooms, shower rooms and en suites. Hallways and landings suit it too, set in a run that gives even light along the whole length. It is a sensible choice for low ceilings and for rooms where a pendant would be in the way, and we reach for it in loft conversions and box rooms for that reason. Being non-dimmable, it wants a plain switch rather than a trailing edge dimmer.

The body is finished white front and back, so the trim sits quietly against most ceiling paints, and it is double insulated. Keeping it clean is a matter of a wipe across the face with a barely damp cloth once the lamp is cold, then a dry cloth so nothing dries on the white. It carries a one year warranty. The range also runs to a round face, and both shapes come in black if you would rather the fitting showed; we would settle on one shape for a whole ceiling rather than mix them. Lamps are not included.
