Description

A compact round downlight with a plain white bezel, sized to sit tight against the ceiling line with only a shallow body behind it. The visible rim measures 8.5cm across and it drops into a 68mm cut-out, which is the common hole size for spotlights of this sort, so it slots into an existing scheme of ceiling lights without much fuss. It takes a GU10 lamp up to 12W, and a reflector LED is what we would fit here. There is no dimming, so it works with an ordinary on and off switch.

We stock these for kitchens, utility rooms and hallways, where the light needs to fall on a worktop or a floor and nothing should hang down to catch your head. The fitting is sealed against dust and splashes, so it also earns its place in bathrooms and shower rooms. A run of them across a ceiling gives even, quiet light; on its own it will pick out a shelf, a doorway or the corner of a landing. It suits low ceilings and small rooms particularly well, where a pendant would only crowd the space.

The body is finished in matt white and the trim keeps to a simple round outline, so it reads as part of the ceiling rather than something applied to it. It is double insulated. Wipe the rim now and then with a barely damp cloth, with the light switched off and cool, and keep solvents and cream cleaners away from the white, as they will dull it. It carries a one year warranty. We also stock the round in black, and a square version in both white and black, which helps if you are matching spotlights across a kitchen and a hallway. Lamps are not included.
