Description

These are four stoneware bowls, each 12cm across and 6cm tall and holding 350ml. That size sits between a dessert dish and a large cereal bowl: roomy enough for porridge, yoghurt with fruit or a portion of soup, yet small enough for nuts, olives or a side of rice. The outside is ribbed in close horizontal rings running from foot to rim, and the inside carries concentric rings that circle into the centre. The multicoloured spray glaze lays its colours in soft bands that follow those ribs, so each bowl reads as graduated rather than striped.

Set out for breakfast, they suit a kitchen table or a breakfast bar, and four of them see a couple or a small household through cereal, granola and fruit. At dinner they work as side bowls for rice, dips, salad or a small pudding, and for a film night on the sofa they hold crisps, popcorn or a handful of biscuits.
