Description
The T8 LED Tube is a linear lamp built to swap straight in for an old fluorescent strip on its G13 two-pin caps. It draws 18 W yet gives the same useful output as a 171 W fluorescent tube, putting out 2880 lumens at a clean 4000K cool white. With a 220 degree beam, the light spreads wide and even down its length rather than throwing a tight spot, which is what makes it suit a long run over a bench or aisle. The cool white tone keeps detail crisp, and an Ra 80 colour rendering reading shows colours fairly for general task work.
Because it is a directional linear source, coverage is best judged by the line it lights rather than a room area: a single tube washes the strip directly beneath it and the surfaces to either side, so spacing several along a ceiling gives steady, shadow-light over workbenches, garage bays, stockrooms and utility corridors. It works well at standard ceiling heights in workshops and storage areas where you want reliable, glare-controlled light over a working surface. This is an indoor lamp only at IP20, so keep it clear of bathrooms, damp utility corners and any outdoor or sheltered-outdoor position.
The tube measures 28 mm across and is finished in white, weighing 204 g, and runs on 220 to 240 V AC mains. Many T8 LED tubes require the old fluorescent starter to be removed or the ballast bypassed before fitting, so check the supplied wiring guidance for this lamp and follow it before installation. At 160 lm/W it is efficient for its output, and a rated 30,000 hour lifespan means long service between changes. It is non-dimmable, so pair it with a standard on or off switched circuit. The wider T8 LED tube range is held in stock alongside our other commercial lamps.

Frequently Asked
What fitting does this tube need?
It uses a G13 two-pin cap, the standard fitting for a T8 linear tube, so it drops into existing G13 tube holders. It is a direct linear-fluorescent replacement of the same cap type.
What old tube wattage does it replace?
The LED itself draws just 18 W, but it gives the equivalent useful output of a 171 W fluorescent tube at 2880 lumens. You get the same workspace brightness for a fraction of the running power.
Do I need to remove the starter or bypass the ballast?
Most T8 LED tubes require the old fluorescent starter to be taken out or the existing ballast to be bypassed so the tube runs directly off the mains. Check the wiring guidance supplied with this lamp and have the work done by a competent electrician if you are unsure.
Is this tube dimmable?
No, this T8 LED tube is non-dimmable and should be run on a standard switched on or off circuit. Fitting it to a dimmer can cause flicker or shorten its rated 30,000 hour life.
