Description
The T8 LED Tube is a direct replacement for the standard linear fluorescent tube, built around the G13 bi-pin cap that twists into existing T8 fittings. It draws just 18 W while producing 1820 lumens of 4000K cool white light, a crisp neutral tone that reads cleanly for working and utility spaces. The 200 degree beam angle spreads the output evenly along the length of the tube rather than throwing a tight spot, so the line of light stays consistent end to end. In US terms this is the LED version of the familiar tube light, swapping in where an old fluorescent T8 used to sit.
Cool white at 4000K suits garages, workshops, storerooms, utility rooms and similar working areas where a clear, neutral light helps with detail tasks. Run as a single tube it covers a small bench or cupboard run, while several mounted in line light a longer workspace or a row of shelving. Because this is a directional tube rather than ambient room lighting, judge it on the run length you want to cover and the spacing between fittings rather than a fixed floor area. With an IP20 rating it is for dry indoor use only, so keep it clear of damp, outdoor and bathroom locations.
The tube measures 28 mm in diameter and weighs 182 g, running on 220 to 240 V AC at an efficiency of 101 lm/W. It is non-dimmable and carries a CRI of Ra 80, giving honest enough colour for general and task work. Installation depends on the existing gear: where a starter is fitted it is removed, and fittings with a magnetic ballast need that ballast bypassing so the tube runs direct, which is worth checking before fitting. Rated at 20,000 hours, it is finished in white. Other wattages and lengths sit alongside it in the T8 LED Tube range.

Frequently Asked
What fitting does this tube use?
It has a G13 bi-pin cap, the standard fitting for a T8 linear tube. It twists straight into existing T8 holders, so it suits fittings that previously took a fluorescent T8 tube of the same length.
What old tube wattage does it replace?
It replaces a 116 W fluorescent tube while drawing only 18 W itself. You get 1820 lumens for that 18 W, a large saving on running power for a similar light output.
Do I need to change anything in the fitting to install it?
It depends on the existing gear. If the fitting has a starter it should be removed, and a fitting with a magnetic ballast needs the ballast bypassing so the tube runs direct from the mains. Check the fitting type before installing.
Is this tube dimmable?
No, this T8 LED tube is non-dimmable, so it should be run on a standard non-dimmed switch. It gives a fixed 1820 lumen output at 4000K cool white whenever it is switched on.
