Description
The T8 LED Tube is a linear G13 lamp built to replace an old fluorescent strip tube of the same fitting. It draws 18 W yet stands in for a 116 W fluorescent tube, putting out 1820 lumens at an efficiency of 101 lm/W. The light is a 6500K daylight tone, a crisp blue-white that reads clean and bright, with colour rendering of Ra 80. Its 200 degree beam spreads the output wide along the length of the tube rather than in a single direction. In US terms a T8 tube of this kind is the standard linear tube light, sized to the same two-pin bi-pin ends as the fluorescent it succeeds.
The daylight tone and wide spread suit working and utility spaces where clear, even light matters more than warmth: garages, workshops, store rooms, basements, plant rooms and the kind of strip-lit ceiling runs found in offices and back-of-house areas. Because the beam pushes light out across 200 degrees, a row of tubes covers a long bench or aisle without dark gaps between fittings. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry indoor positions only and should be kept clear of damp, bathrooms and any outdoor or sheltered-outdoor location.
The tube measures 28 mm in diameter and uses the G13 two-pin cap that drops straight into existing T8 batten fittings. As an LED tube it bypasses the old starter and ballast arrangement, so check the fitting and follow the conversion method on the supplied spec sheet before installing. The lamp is non-dimmable and rated for 20,000 hours, with a light weight of 160 g. The finish is a plain white tube. We stock matching T8 LED tubes across this range to refit a full ceiling run in one daylight tone.

Frequently Asked
What fitting does this tube use?
It has a G13 two-pin cap, the standard T8 linear tube fitting. It is sized to drop into existing T8 batten fittings in place of an old fluorescent tube of the same length.
What wattage of old tube does it replace?
The LED tube draws just 18 W itself but gives light equivalent to a 116 W fluorescent tube. At 1820 lumens and 101 lm/W it delivers that brightness for a fraction of the running power.
Do I need to remove the starter or bypass the ballast?
Yes, an LED tube does not work with the old fluorescent starter and ballast. Check your fitting and follow the conversion method on the supplied spec sheet before installing, or have an electrician do it.
Is this tube dimmable?
No, this T8 LED tube is non-dimmable and should be run from a standard on/off circuit. It is rated for 20,000 hours and gives a fixed 6500K daylight output.
