Description

The T8 LED Tube is a G13 linear lamp built to replace an old fluorescent strip tube of the same fitting. It draws just 12 W while putting out 2220 lumens, an efficiency of 185 lm/W, so it gives bright, even light along its length for a fraction of the running cost. The output is a crisp 4000K cool white that suits working areas where clear, neutral light matters more than warmth. In US terms a G13 lamp is the standard two-pin T8 tube light, and this one slots into the same bi-pin ends. A 200 degree beam spreads the light widely rather than throwing it in one direction, lighting the space below and to the sides of the tube.

Cool white at 4000K is a practical choice for garages, workshops, utility rooms, store rooms and similar indoor working spaces, where the neutral tone keeps surfaces and detail looking true. It is an indoor lamp only at IP20, so keep it clear of damp, unheated outbuildings, bathrooms and anywhere exposed to the weather. The wide 200 degree spread means a row of these tubes covers a bench or floor area evenly with few shadows, which is why the format is a long-standing favourite for utility and task lighting rather than for soft ambient room light.

This is a T8 LED tube with G13 bi-pin caps and a white linear body, measuring 28 mm in diameter. Running on 220 to 240 V AC, it replaces a tube that would previously have needed a starter, so check the existing fitting and follow the supplied guidance on removing or bypassing the starter before fitting. The colour rendering is Ra 80 and the rated lifespan is 40,000 hours. It is non-dimmable, so pair it with a standard switched circuit rather than a dimmer. Other wattages and tube lengths sit alongside this one in the range.

Frequently Asked

What fitting do I need for this tube?

It uses a G13 cap, the standard two-pin bi-pin end found on T8 fluorescent tubes. It fits the same G13 lampholders, so it drops into an existing T8 batten or fitting once the wiring has been checked.

What wattage of old tube does it replace?

The LED itself draws only 12 W, but it produces 2220 lumens, which is equivalent to a 137 W conventional tube. You get the same usable brightness for a small fraction of the energy use.

Do I need to remove the starter or change the fitting?

Many existing fluorescent fittings use a starter that should be removed or bypassed for an LED tube, depending on whether the fitting is magnetic or electronic ballast type. Check the existing gear and follow the supplied installation guidance before fitting, and have any wiring changes done by a competent electrician.

Is this tube dimmable?

No, this T8 LED tube is non-dimmable. Run it on a standard switched circuit rather than a dimmer switch, as using it on a dimmer can cause flicker or premature failure.
