Description

This is the small round power unit that feeds an LED fitting the steady current it keeps asking for. Output is a constant 350mA, the casing is white, and the disc measures 92mm across with a shallow depth that keeps it tucked away neatly. There is no dimming built in: it works on and off, so the light comes up at full output each time it is switched. We treat it as the default answer when a customer asks what runs a Sunset recessed base.

Dry indoor positions are its territory, which covers most of the places these fittings go: hallways, landings, living rooms, bedrooms and the drier corners of a kitchen. Anyone building a run of small recessed lights will want a driver for each fitting, matched to a load of up to 15W. Because the control is plain switching, it works with ordinary wall switches and asks for no compatible dimmer, which is often the quickest way past a flickering gear problem. It is a sensible spare to keep in the drawer too, since the driver is usually the first part of a small LED fitting to want replacing.

The white finish is plain and unfussy, chosen to disappear rather than to be looked at, and the unit is light enough in the hand to feel like no burden at all. Care amounts to keeping it dry and clear of dust; if it ever needs attention, turn the power off first and use nothing wet on it. It carries a three year warranty.
