Description

Space 2F is a floor lamp in black and antique brass. A slim black stem rising from a low round black base, carrying two polished brass goosenecks that branch at different heights and curve over, each ending in a small black cone shade. The cones are straight-sided with pale linings that show as bright mouths against the matt black outside, and they can be pushed round independently. Brass shows on the two arms and in a short turned collar partway down the stem, where a sliding joint sets the height. The base is a flat disc with a small brass cone at the joint. Both heads are directed reading lights rather than washes. It measures 150cm tall and 50cm wide, in metal.

It stands beside a chair or at the end of a sofa, where it puts one pool of light exactly where it is needed without lighting the whole space. That is what a floor lamp is for: it takes the reading light off the ceiling and puts it at shoulder height, so the room can be lit softly and still be worked in.

The LED is built in at 3W, so there is no bulb to buy and none to fit. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms. It carries an F energy label.

Do I need to buy a bulb?

No. The LED is built into the fitting, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to fit.

What happens when the LED fails?

The fitting is replaced rather than relamped. At 3W and normal domestic use that is many years away.

How bright is it at full?

Comparable to a 25W to 40W incandescent bulb at full.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
