Description

The Sona is a 4-light semi-flush ceiling light with four frosted glass cylinder shades arranged symmetrically around a circular satin chrome backplate. Each shade houses a G9 bulb (included) and the frosted glass diffuses the light evenly across the room without visible glare or hotspots. The 100mm diameter and 100mm drop from the ceiling make it suited to rooms with lower ceiling heights or smaller floor areas where a larger fitting would overwhelm the space.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms (check IP rating before installing in wet zones), the Sona mounts flush to the ceiling via the central backplate and requires connection to a standard UK ceiling rose. The four arms radiate symmetrically from the centre, positioning each glass tube at 90-degree intervals. The compact footprint means the fitting projects minimal visual weight on the ceiling, giving a cleaner look than pendant or multi-tier designs.

The satin chrome finish is a brushed metallic surface that softens reflections and pairs with both cool-toned and warm-toned interiors. The frosted glass cylinders are clear enough to see the bulb outline when lit but opaque enough to prevent direct lamp glare. Each G9 bulb can be up to 40W, giving a combined 160W maximum load if all four are run at full capacity. The fitting is dimmable when paired with dimmable G9 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch.

Are the bulbs included?

Yes. The Sona ships with four G9 bulbs fitted. These are standard halogen G9 capsules. If you prefer LED G9 bulbs for lower energy consumption, you can replace them after installation.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, but only when fitted with dimmable G9 bulbs and connected to a compatible dimmer switch. The included halogen bulbs are typically dimmable by default. If you replace them with LED G9 bulbs, check the LED bulb packaging confirms dimmer compatibility.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The 100mm height (drop from ceiling to base of the glass tubes) makes the Sona suitable for standard UK ceiling heights of 2.3-2.4m and above. It works particularly well in rooms with lower ceilings where a pendant would hang too low.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The specification table does not list an IP rating, so the Sona is not certified for wet or splash zones in bathrooms unless Diyas specifies otherwise in separate documentation. Check with the manufacturer before installing in bathrooms or other high-moisture environments.
