Description

The Somorne is a round, drum-shaped LED flush ceiling light that sits close to the ceiling, 57cm across and 15cm high. The body is white steel, the shade is a grey fabric linen, and a white plastic diffuser closes the underside, so you see a soft, even disc of light rather than bare LEDs. The LED is integrated, drawing 35W and giving 3,500lm, a generous output for a single ceiling fitting. It is rated IP20, and that settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms, never in a bathroom or a garden.

We like it most in a hallway, landing or entrance, where one wide light does the work for the whole space, and it suits a living room, bedroom or home office just as well. The colour temperature runs from 2700 to 6500K, so you can choose a warm, relaxed white in the evening and a crisp, cooler white whenever you need to see clearly. It is dimmable, and it is colour-changing (RGB), so the same light can wash a room in soft blue or green for a film night or a party. With low ceilings, the flush profile keeps the light well clear of heads.

There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, and the app looks after brightness, the tone of white and the colour. It also works with a remote control, which is sold separately and does not come in the box. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains, carries energy class F and weighs 4.141KG packed. As a wired-in mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download. Once it is fitted, everyday changes happen in the app, so nobody needs to climb a ladder to change the mood of a room.
