Description

The Solden is a horizontal outdoor wall light built around a 180mm cuboid housing in dark grey with an angled top edge and a white polycarbonate diffuser on the front face. An integrated 9W LED inside delivers 773 lumens at 3000K warm white through a 118° beam angle, providing wide flood coverage downward and to the sides. The IP65 rating protects the LED module and driver from rain, dust and direct water jets.

Designed for exterior walls flanking driveways, doorways, patios and garden paths, the Solden mounts to masonry or timber with rear fixings and projects 75mm from the wall surface. The angled top prevents rain pooling on the diffuser and directs water away from the light source, maintaining output in wet weather. The 90mm height keeps the fitting low-profile on the wall, avoiding head-height protrusion on narrow side passages.

The dark grey powder-coat finish resists UV fade and pairs cleanly with rendered walls, grey brick, darker timber cladding and modern architectural palettes. The white diffuser softens the LED array into even wash light rather than visible point sources, reducing glare when the fitting is viewed from below. The 9W power draw runs on standard 230V mains without needing a separate transformer, and the non-dimmable driver simplifies installation where switched circuits are already in place.

What does the IP65 rating mean?

IP65 confirms the fitting is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for exposed exterior walls where rain and weathering are expected, but not for full submersion or high-pressure washing.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The LED is integrated into the housing and is not user-replaceable. The LED module is rated for 25,000+ hours of operation, which translates to approximately 10-15 years of typical evening use before noticeable lumen depreciation.

Can it be installed upside down or vertically?

The fitting is designed for horizontal mounting with the angled edge at the top to shed water. Installing it upside down or on its side may allow water to pool on the diffuser and reduce the IP65 protection effectiveness.

What spacing is recommended for pathway lighting?

For pathway or driveway edge lighting, spacing the Solden at 2.5-3m intervals provides continuous coverage without dark gaps between pools of light. Closer spacing at 1.5-2m gives higher lux levels for areas requiring greater visibility.
