Description

The Solar is a compact outdoor wall light with two GU10 fittings housed in a cylindrical brown aluminium body, separated by a transparent Pyrex glass band. One lamp faces upward, one downward, creating a bidirectional wash of light across the wall surface. The fitting measures 65mm diameter with a 210mm projection from the wall.

Designed for patios, driveways, garden pathways and porch areas, the Solar provides accent and wayfinding light in outdoor settings. The IP44 rating protects against rain and dust ingress, making it suitable for mounting on exposed walls in UK weather. The brown finish is a warm neutral that pairs with brick, stone, timber cladding and rendered walls, offering an alternative to the more common black or anthracite outdoor wall lights.

The aluminium body is painted rather than powder-coated, giving a slightly softer sheen than typical outdoor fittings. The Pyrex diffuser sits in a recessed band around the centre of the cylinder, protecting the glass from impact while allowing light to exit cleanly in both directions. The GU10 fittings accept standard mains-voltage LED or halogen bulbs (sold separately), and the fitting is dimmable when paired with compatible GU10 dimmable bulbs and a suitable dimmer switch.

What bulbs does it take?

The Solar takes two standard GU10 mains-voltage bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED GU10s between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor ambiance.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is dimmable-compatible. Dimming requires dimmable GU10 bulbs and a wall dimmer switch rated for the bulb type (LED-compatible dimmers for LED GU10s). Non-dimmable bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail if connected to a dimmer circuit.

Can it be used in all weathers?

Yes. The IP44 rating protects against rain and dust, making it suitable for year-round outdoor installation on exposed walls. The fitting is not submersible and should not be installed where it will be submerged or subjected to direct pressure-washing.

How is it wired?

The Solar is mains-wired (230V) and requires connection to an outdoor lighting circuit by a qualified electrician. It does not require a transformer and cannot run on low-voltage systems.
