Solana 18 Light Crystal Flush Ceiling Light - Polished Chrome

The Solana is a 590mm diameter flush crystal ceiling light with eighteen G4 bulb fittings arranged across a polished chrome frame. Clear glass ovals house faceted crystals, each tipped with a crystal button, creating layers of transparency and reflection when lit. The 450mm drop suits standard-height ceilings while providing enough presence for larger rooms.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.4-3m, the Solana functions as both ambient light source and decorative centrepiece. The eighteen G4 fittings allow total wattage up to 360W (18 x 20W max), though most installations use lower-wattage G4 halogen capsules in the 10-20W range. The flush mount sits directly against the ceiling with no visible gap or chain suspension, making it suitable for rooms where a traditional chandelier would hang too low.

The polished chrome frame reflects light back through the crystal array, amplifying the brightness from each individual bulb. At 7.6kg the fitting requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or a mounting plate rated for the weight. The oval-cut crystals refract white light into spectral colours when viewed from different angles, producing rainbow flashes across walls and ceilings during evening use. The chrome, glass and crystal combination pairs with both contemporary and classical interiors where a high-impact decorative fitting is needed without projecting far into the room.

What bulbs does it take?

The Solana takes eighteen G4 capsule bulbs, each up to 20W maximum. Bulbs are not included. Most users fit G4 halogen capsules between 10-20W in warm white (2700-3000K). The specification notes it is not compatible with LED or CFL G4 capsules — use halogen only.

Is it dimmable?

No. The Solana is not dimmable and should be wired to a standard on/off switch. Attempting to use a dimmer may damage the internal wiring or cause bulb failure.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 450mm drop suits ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. In rooms with 2.4m ceilings the lowest crystal droplets will sit approximately 1.95m from the floor, leaving adequate headroom for most domestic spaces.

How is the weight supported during installation?

At 7.6kg the Solana requires fixing to a ceiling joist or a mounting plate rated for at least 10kg. The polished chrome backplate must be securely screwed through the ceiling surface into solid timber or a spreader plate — plasterboard fixings alone are not sufficient.
