Description

The SMD LED Strip is a flexible 5m reel of spaced SMD diodes that draws 9W per metre, giving an even line of light along its length. In US terms a reel like this is sold as LED tape light, and it suits the same under-cabinet and accent jobs. It carries RGBW emitters, mixing red, green and blue with a dedicated 4000K white channel, so it produces both full colour effects and a clean neutral white. Colour rendering is rated Ra 80. The reel runs on 24V DC and cuts to length at the marked points every 25cm, so it can be trimmed to fit a run exactly.

Indoor settings are where this strip belongs, as it is rated IP00 for dry indoor use only and must be kept clear of damp, bathrooms and any outdoor location. It works well as a hidden accent under kitchen cabinets, along shelving, behind a TV, inside coving or around a bar where the colour-change channels add interest. Because it lays as a continuous line rather than throwing a beam, coverage is best judged by the length of run you light rather than by floor area, so plan it around the edge or recess you want to wash with colour.

The diodes sit on a slim flexible backing measuring 10mm wide, allowing the reel to follow curves and corners. As a 24V DC strip it is not mains-direct and needs a matching 24V LED driver, sold separately, sized to the total wattage of the run. Cut only at the printed marks every 25cm to keep each section working. Rated for 30,000 hours, it gives a long service life across colour and white modes.

Does this strip need a separate driver?

Yes. It is a 24V DC strip, so it is not wired straight to the mains and needs a matching 24V LED driver, which is sold separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of your run, allowing 9W for every metre of strip used.

Can the strip be cut to length?

Yes, it cuts to length at the marked points every 25cm along the reel. Only cut on those printed marks so each section keeps working. The full reel measures 5m.

Is it suitable for outdoor or bathroom use?

No. This version is rated IP00 for dry indoor use only, so keep it clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor location. Choose an IP65 coated strip for damp or sheltered settings.

What colours can it produce?

It uses RGBW emitters, combining red, green and blue channels with a separate 4000K white channel. This lets you set full colour effects or a clean neutral white, with colour rendering rated at Ra 80.
