Description
This SMD LED strip light is a 5 metre flexible reel of spaced surface-mount diodes, giving a continuous run of cool white light at 4000K. It draws 9.6W per metre and puts out 1040 lumens per metre, enough for clean, even task light along a worktop edge, shelf or cove. Sold in the US market as LED tape light or under cabinet led strip, it cuts to length only at the marked points so a run can be trimmed to fit the space exactly. The reel runs on 12V DC, so it pairs with a matching LED driver rather than connecting to the mains directly.
Because it carries an IP65 rating, this strip suits both dry indoor runs and damp or sheltered outdoor settings such as under eaves, around a porch soffit, along a garden step or behind a bathroom mirror. The coated finish handles splashes and weather, while the 1040 lumens per metre lays down a bright, low-profile line of light wherever a fixed luminaire would be too bulky. Indoors it works well under kitchen cabinets, inside alcoves and along stair stringers; outside it traces decking edges and pergola frames. Throw is short and directional, so plan it as an accent or task line rather than as the main room light.
The diodes sit on a flexible backing that bends around corners and along curved profiles, and the strip cuts cleanly at the marked interval for a tidy custom length. With a CRI of Ra80 the cool white output keeps surfaces and finishes looking true, and the rated lifespan is 15,000 hours. It needs a separate 12V DC LED driver sized to the total run, which is not supplied with the reel. We stock matching drivers and joining accessories across the SMD strip range so a full install can be specified from one place.

Frequently Asked
Does this LED strip need a driver?
Yes. It runs on 12V DC, so it cannot connect straight to a mains socket and needs a matching 12V LED driver, which is sold separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of your run, allowing for the 9.6W drawn per metre.
Can the strip be cut to length?
Yes. It cuts only at the marked cut points along the reel, so you can trim a 5 metre length down to fit your run. Cut on a marked line to keep each section working correctly.
Is it suitable for outdoor or damp use?
Yes. The IP65 rating makes it weatherproof, so it copes with exposed outdoor positions and wet locations such as under eaves, around decking or behind a bathroom mirror. The coating protects the diodes from splashes and weather.
How do I clean and maintain the strip?
Wipe the coated surface gently with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth once the strip is switched off and cool. Avoid solvents and harsh cleaners, which can mark the IP65 coating. Keep connectors and cut ends dry when working on an outdoor run.
