Description
This SMD LED strip is a flexible 5 metre reel carrying spaced SMD diodes, supplied as an led strip light that you cut to length and bend around corners. It draws up to 7.2W per metre and runs from a 12V DC supply, giving full RGB colour output for colour-changing effects. Sold in the US as led tape light, it works as a continuous run of dynamic colour rather than a fixed beam, so think of its coverage as a glowing line of light along whatever edge or surface it follows rather than a measured floor area.
The RGB output suits accent and decorative work: kitchen plinths and cabinet undersides, shelf and cove outlines, stair edges, TV recesses and bar fronts. With an IP54 rating it is splash-resistant and copes with sheltered, damp settings such as bathroom zones away from direct spray, or a covered porch or carport. Keep it clear of fully-exposed positions, direct water jets and any submerged use, as the IP54 rating does not cover those. The flexible backing lets it trace curved and tight runs that a rigid fitting cannot.
The strip is built on a slim flexible reel and cuts only at the marked points along its length. It is a 12V DC product, so it needs a matching 12V LED driver, which is sold separately rather than plugging straight into the mains, and an RGB controller to switch and fade the colours. Rated for around 15,000 hours, it carries the IP54 splash rating for its accent and sheltered applications. Our SMD LED strip range includes matching drivers and controllers to complete the install.

Frequently Asked
Does this LED strip need a driver?
Yes. It is a 12V DC strip, so it must run from a matching 12V LED driver, which is sold separately. Do not connect it straight to the mains. You will also want an RGB controller to change and fade the colours.
Can the strip be cut to length?
Yes. The strip cuts only at the marked cut points along the reel, so you can size each run to fit the surface you are lighting. Cutting elsewhere will damage the circuit on that section.
Can it be used in a bathroom or outdoors?
Its IP54 rating makes it splash-resistant, so it suits bathroom zones away from direct spray and sheltered outdoor spots such as a covered porch or carport. Keep it clear of fully-exposed positions, direct water jets and any submersion.
How do I control the RGB colours?
The RGB output is driven through a separate RGB controller wired between the driver and the strip. This lets you switch colours, set static tones and run fading or changing effects across the 5 metre run.
