Description
This SMD LED strip is a flexible 5m reel of spaced SMD diodes that lays a continuous line of warm white 3000K light along edges, coves and under-cabinet runs. It draws 4.8W per metre and gives roughly 400 lumens per metre, so a full reel produces a soft, even wash rather than a single bright point. Known in the US as LED tape light, it runs from 12V DC and cuts to length at the marked points, letting you size each section to the run. The light is a steady warm tone across the whole reel.
It suits kitchen plinths and worktop undersides, shelving, stair edges, garden eaves and sheltered patio outlines, where a low, grazing line of light defines a shape without glare. Because the output is a per-metre line rather than ambient room lighting, think of coverage as the length of edge or outline you want to trace rather than a floor area: each metre adds about 400 lumens of warm accent, so longer runs build a brighter, more continuous band. The IP65 coating means it copes with damp and exposed outdoor positions, so it can wrap a pergola, frame a doorway or run along a fence as readily as it sits indoors. Joining shorter cut sections lets you turn corners or skip gaps along the route.
The strip is built on a flexible PCB with an IP65 weatherproof coating, rated to around 15,000 hours, with a CRI of Ra 80 for natural-looking colour. It is a 12V DC strip, so it is not mains-direct and needs a matching 12V LED driver, sold separately, sized to the total wattage of the run you install. Cut only at the marked intervals, then connect with a compatible connector or solder. The self-adhesive backing fixes it to a clean, dry surface, and an aluminium profile is worth adding on longer runs to spread heat and diffuse the dots.

Frequently Asked
Does this strip need a driver?
Yes. It is a 12V DC strip, not mains-direct, so it must run from a matching 12V LED driver, which is sold separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of your run, allowing 4.8W for every metre of strip you connect.
Can it be cut to length?
Yes. The reel cuts to length at the marked cut points along the strip, so you can trim each section to fit the run. Cut only at those marks, then rejoin sections with a compatible connector or by soldering.
Is it suitable for outdoor and damp use?
Yes. The IP65 weatherproof coating means it is suitable for exposed outdoor and wet locations, so it works on patios, eaves, pergolas and fences as well as indoors. It is equally at home in damp areas such as under kitchen plinths.
How do I clean and maintain it?
Wipe the strip gently with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth to clear dust and grime, avoiding harsh solvents that could mark the coating. Switch off and let it cool first. Rated to around 15,000 hours, it needs no routine servicing beyond the occasional wipe.
