Description
This SMD LED strip is a flexible 5m reel of spaced SMD diodes giving a bright, even line of light at 16W and 1600 lumens per metre. Searched for as led strip lights or simply led tape, it runs at 24V DC and produces a warm white 3000K tone with Ra 80 colour rendering. The strip cuts to length at the marked points every 5cm, so a run can be trimmed neatly to fit a shelf, recess or outline. It carries an IP65 rating, which makes it a weatherproof option rather than a bare indoor-only tape.
The IP65 coating opens up damp and exposed locations as well as dry rooms, so it works under kitchen cabinets, along coving and skirting, around eaves and over a patio or garden outline. At 1600 lumens per metre it lays down a strong, continuous wash of warm light for accent runs, cove lighting and task strips rather than acting as a room's main fitting. Plan the layout by metres rather than floor area, allowing for the 5cm cut interval and joining shorter cut sections where a longer reel will not bend. The warm white tone suits living spaces, hospitality settings and softer outdoor schemes.
The reel is a flexible PCB carrying the SMD diodes, sealed to IP65 for outdoor and wet-area use, with a rated life of around 30,000 hours. It is a 24V DC strip, so it is not mains-direct and needs a matching 24V LED driver, sized to the total wattage of the run and sold separately. Mount it along its self-adhesive backing or in a profile, and make the cuts only at the printed 5cm points. We also stock matching drivers and profiles within the range to complete a tidy, weatherproof installation.

Frequently Asked
Does this LED strip need a driver?
Yes. It is a 24V DC strip, so it does not connect straight to a mains socket and requires a separate 24V LED driver. Size the driver to the total wattage of your run, allowing 16W for every metre of strip fitted.
Can the strip be cut to length?
Yes. It can be cut at the marked points every 5cm, so you can trim it to fit a shelf, recess or outline. Cut only at those marks to keep each section working, and join shorter lengths with the appropriate connectors where needed.
Is it suitable for outdoor or damp areas?
Yes. The strip is rated IP65, which makes it weatherproof and suitable for exposed outdoor and wet locations such as eaves, patios and garden outlines. It is equally at home indoors under cabinets or along coving.
How do I clean and maintain it?
Wipe the sealed surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh solvents that could damage the IP65 coating. Switch the supply off before cleaning, and check that any connectors and the driver stay dry and secure for reliable use over its 30,000 hour life.
