Description
This SMD LED strip is a 5m flexible reel of spaced SMD diodes, giving 16W and 1760 lumens per metre of bright, even output. The light is a clean cool white at 4000K, with a CRI of Ra 80 for honest, natural-looking colour across the run. As an led strip light, it lays into channels, coves and recesses where a continuous line of light is wanted rather than a fixed fitting, and in US terms this is the led tape light commonly used under cabinets and along shelf edges. The reel can be cut to length every 5cm at the marked points, so a run is trimmed to fit the exact space it needs to fill.
Because it carries an IP65 rating, this strip suits damp and exposed locations as well as dry indoor ones, from kitchen plinths and bathroom coves to sheltered eaves, garden structures and patio edges. The light it gives is a linear graze rather than ambient room lighting, so it works best outlining a surface, washing along a worktop, marking a step run or picking out architectural detail. For task areas such as a worktop it provides strong, shadow-free light close to the surface, while in decorative coves and outlines it reads as a soft continuous line. Spacing the cut sections lets a single 5m reel cover several short features or one long uninterrupted edge.
The strip runs on 24V DC, so it needs a matching 24V LED driver sized to the total wattage of the run, supplied separately rather than plugged straight into a mains socket. The IP65 coating seals the diodes against splashes, dust and weather, and the adhesive backing fixes the reel to clean, dry surfaces or into aluminium profile. Rated for around 30,000 hours, it is built for long service in continuous-use settings. Other lengths and a coated outdoor profile are available across the SMD LED Strip range from us.

Frequently Asked
Does this LED strip need a separate driver?
Yes. It runs on 24V DC, so it needs a 24V LED driver rather than a direct mains connection. Size the driver to the total wattage of the length you are using, allowing 16W for every metre of strip in the run. The driver is supplied separately.
Can it be cut to length, and where?
Yes. The reel is cut to length at the marked cut points, which fall every 5cm along the strip. Only cut at these marks so the section stays intact and powered correctly. This lets you trim a run neatly to the space it needs to fill.
Is this strip suitable for outdoor or damp use?
Yes. With an IP65 rating it is weatherproof and copes with damp and exposed locations such as sheltered eaves, patios and bathroom coves. It resists splashes, dust and weather, though it is not intended for full submersion. Fix it to clean, dry surfaces or into a profile for the neatest result.
How do I clean and maintain it?
Wipe the surface gently with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth once the strip is switched off and cool. Avoid solvents and abrasive pads, which can mark the IP65 coating. Keeping the strip free of dust and grease helps maintain its output over its rated 30,000 hours.
