Description
This SMD LED strip is a 5 metre flexible reel of spaced SMD diodes, drawing 11W per metre and putting out 900 lumens per metre in a crisp daylight tone. Often searched for as led strip lights or led tape, it gives a continuous, even line of light along its length. The reel is cuttable every 5cm at the marked points, so a run can be trimmed to fit a shelf edge, eave or recess without waste. It runs on a 12V DC supply rather than direct from the mains, which keeps the strip cool and easy to route through tight channels.
Because it is rated IP65, this strip handles damp and exposed outdoor settings as well as dry interiors, making it a practical choice for under cabinets, cove detailing, pergola edges, soffits and garden outlines. The light it gives is decorative and accent in nature rather than ambient room lighting, so think of it as a bright daylight line that grazes a surface or picks out an edge rather than filling a space. Sections can be joined to extend a run around corners and along longer features, with the daylight colour staying consistent across the whole length for a clean finish.
Built on a flexible reel measuring 8mm wide, the strip carries a CRI of Ra90 for accurate, true-to-life colour rendering, useful where the lit surface or contents matter. The IP65 coating seals it against moisture and dust for wet and outdoor positions. It needs a matching 12V DC LED driver, which is sold separately, sized to the total wattage of the run you install. Rated at 30,000 hours, it offers a long service life with low upkeep. We also stock the matching drivers and accessories to complete the installation.

Frequently Asked
Does this strip need a separate driver?
Yes. It runs on 12V DC, not mains voltage, so it needs a matching 12V LED driver sized to the total wattage of your run. At 11W per metre, a full 5 metre reel draws around 55W, so choose a driver rated comfortably above that figure. The driver is sold separately.
Can it be cut to length, and where?
Yes. The reel can be cut every 5cm at the marked cut points, so you can trim it to fit a shelf, eave or recess. Only cut at the marked intervals to keep each section working correctly. Any unused length can be set aside for another run.
Is it suitable for outdoor and damp locations?
Yes. With an IP65 rating the strip is weatherproof and coated against moisture and dust, so it suits sheltered and exposed outdoor positions such as pergolas, soffits and garden outlines, as well as damp indoor areas. It is equally at home in dry interiors like under cabinets and cove details.
How do I clean and maintain it?
Wipe the strip with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth to remove dust and grime, switching off the supply first. Avoid soaking it or using harsh solvents that could damage the IP65 coating. With a rated life of 30,000 hours it needs very little ongoing attention once installed.
