Description
The Skoura is a pendant light with a steel ball shade. The shade is cut into a pattern of open, many-sided facets, has a brass finish and hangs on a black cable from a black ceiling canopy. The shade is 30cm across and the light has an overall height of 150cm. That size holds its own over a table or in an entrance hall, where a smaller shade could look lost. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 60W. The bulb is not included, so you choose the colour and style of light that suits the room. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms.
Hang it over a dining table or a kitchen island, or in a stairwell. The open shade holds the eye by day, and once the bulb is lit, light passes through the cut-outs into the room. The mix of black and brass sits comfortably with dark painted walls, warm timber and other brass details, so it suits a period hallway as readily as a modern kitchen. Because the bulb shows through the open facets rather than hiding behind solid metal, a clear or decorative filament bulb is worth considering, since the bulb becomes part of the look.
The body is steel, and the black canopy and cable keep the line from the ceiling clean and simple. There is no switch on the light itself. It is switched at the wall, so it works from the light switch you already have. It runs from a mains supply of 220-240V, 50/60Hz, and as a wired-in mains light it is installed by a qualified electrician. The installation instructions come as a download, and the packed weight is 1.308KG. Once it is hung, fit your chosen E27 bulb, keeping within the 60W maximum, and it is ready whenever you reach for the wall switch.
