Description
The Knightsbridge T8BLED15EM1 is a 1525mm single LED batten fitting with an integrated 26W LED light source and 3-hour emergency backup function. The fitting houses the LED driver and emergency battery pack within a pressed steel body finished in white, with an opal polycarbonate diffuser running the full length of the batten to distribute light evenly across the 120° beam angle.
Designed as a direct replacement for traditional T8 fluorescent batten fittings in commercial, educational and industrial spaces, the batten provides maintained, non-maintained or switched emergency operation selectable via internal controls. In mains power mode the fitting delivers 3000lm at 4000K cool white. During a power failure the emergency mode activates automatically, providing 290lm for three hours to maintain safe exit lighting in corridors, stairwells, warehouses and back-of-house areas.
The pressed steel construction and IP20 rating suit dry indoor environments. The batten measures 1525mm long × 60mm wide × 85mm deep and mounts directly to ceilings or suspended grid systems via the end brackets. The constant-current driver provides stable output without requiring external control gear. At 113lm/W efficacy and a 50,000-hour L70B50 lifespan, the fitting reduces both energy consumption and maintenance frequency compared to fluorescent equivalents.
The 5-year warranty covers the fitting and LED components but excludes the emergency battery pack, which typically requires replacement after 3-4 years of operation depending on discharge frequency. The fitting is rated Class I and requires an earthed supply connection. The opal diffuser softens glare while maintaining good light transmission for task visibility in work areas.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between maintained, non-maintained and switched emergency modes?
Maintained mode keeps the emergency lamp lit continuously alongside mains power. Non-maintained mode only lights the emergency lamp during power failure. Switched mode allows the fitting to be controlled by a wall switch during normal operation but still provides emergency backup when mains power fails. The mode is selectable via internal controls during installation.
How long does the emergency battery last?
The emergency function provides 290lm output for three hours during a power failure. The battery pack itself typically lasts 3-4 years depending on discharge frequency and requires replacement to maintain emergency function. Battery replacement is not covered under the 5-year fitting warranty.
Can it replace a traditional T8 fluorescent batten?
Yes. The 1525mm length and mounting bracket configuration match standard 5ft T8 batten fittings. The integrated LED eliminates the need for separate tubes and control gear, and the 3000lm output at 26W matches or exceeds the performance of a twin 58W fluorescent installation while using less than half the power.
What ceiling height and spacing is recommended?
The 120° beam angle and 3000lm output suit ceiling heights of 2.5-4m in commercial and industrial spaces. For general lighting in corridors and warehouses, spacing battens 3-4m apart typically provides adequate coverage. For task lighting at workstations, closer spacing or supplementary fittings may be needed.
