A storage basket, 43cm wide, in natural. At 43cm wide it is about the width of a laptop. A basket is storage you leave in view, which is the whole argument for buying a good-looking one. It turns a pile of things that would otherwise need a cupboard into something that can sit in the open beside a sofa or under a console.

A natural, unpainted finish shows the material doing its own work — the grain, the weave or the fibre is the decoration, and no two pieces are identical because no two lengths of the raw material are. It arrives as a set, which is worth knowing before you plan where it goes: a group needs a run of surface or floor rather than the single spot a lone piece would take. Supplied as a set of 3.

Buy for what goes in it rather than for the gap it fills. Logs, blankets and toys all want different depths, and a basket that is too deep swallows whatever is at the bottom until you stop using it for that.

Dusting is all it asks for, with a damp cloth on the finish and nothing solvent or abrasive.
