Description

A wide, shallow cylinder in taupe faux silk, lined in halo gold so the light takes on a warm cast as it falls. At 35cm across it reads as broad rather than tall, which keeps the outline quiet and gives the fabric room to show its low sheen. The taupe itself is a soft grey brown, warm enough to sit against magnolia or a pale stone paint without looking cold.

It is a shade for a table lamp on a sideboard, a wide chest or a console, where the low height keeps the whole lamp in proportion, and it works just as well hanging as a pendant over a hall table or beside a bed. The lamp comes from whatever fitting the shade goes on, and we would choose an LED GLS type, no more than 20W. We tend to suggest it where a taller drum would look top heavy in a low room, or where a broad pool of light across a surface is more useful than a narrow one.

It is a dual faux silk, taupe on the outside and halo gold within, so it shifts in character: quiet and matt by day, warmer once the lamp is lit. Keep it dry. Lift dust with a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting, and keep damp cloths, polishes and sprays away from the faux silk. Steamy rooms are not its natural home; a sitting room, bedroom or landing is. It carries a one year warranty. The same taupe and halo gold pairing runs through the smaller Serena cylinders we stock, and the range also takes in plain black, white and grey along with organza in cream and black, so lamps around a room can be matched or mixed on purpose. No lamp is included.
