Description

A wide, shallow cylinder in grey faux silk, lined in white so the light coming through stays clean rather than tinted. The fabric has the quiet sheen of real silk without any of the fuss, and the straight sides hold a crisp circle from every angle. At 35cm across it is broad for its height, which sends light out sideways into the room as much as downwards, lifting the corners of a space instead of dropping a narrow pool onto the floor.

This is a shade we reach for when a room needs its light widened. It sits well on a ceramic or turned metal table lamp base, and it works just as happily hung from a pendant flex over a hall table or a reading chair. The grey reads as a warm neutral beside off-white walls and holds its own against darker joinery, so it suits both a quiet bedroom and a busier sitting room. We would put an LED GLS lamp behind it, rated no higher than 20W.

Faux silk over a white laminate lining gives the shade its body and its even grey face. Keep it right with an occasional going over using a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum on low suction; damp cloths and cleaning sprays will mark the fabric, so keep both well away. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included. The same cylinder is made in black, white and ivory pearl, in dual-tone taupe and nude beige, and in organza as well as faux silk, with other sizes in the range if you want a smaller version on a bedside pair.
