Description

A short, wide cylinder in white faux silk, lined with a white laminate that keeps the light clean and even. At 16cm across and 11cm tall it sits low and broad, reading as a neat band of light rather than a tall column. The weave carries a faint sheen that softens the glow without glare, and the pale lining pushes a good share of it downwards. Of all the Serena shades we stock, this is the one we reach for when a room wants nothing more than quiet white.

It is a dual mount shade, so it will sit on a table lamp or hang from a pendant. The proportions suit bedside lamps, a small lamp on a hall console, or a row of low pendants over a kitchen island where a deeper drum would crowd the view. Being non-electrical, it takes its lamp from the fitting it goes on; a golf ball LED of up to 20W is what we would choose, sitting well inside the drum so the fabric glows evenly. Lamps are not included.

The faux silk is worked over a laminate backing, which holds the cylinder true and keeps the fabric from rippling along the edges. Keep it to dry indoor rooms, away from steam and splashes, since fabric marks easily once damp. For dust, run a soft brush lightly around the outside in one direction, and lift smudges with a barely damp cloth on the laminate lining only. It carries a one year warranty. The same cylinder is offered in black, grey and ivory pearl, in taupe with halo gold, in nude beige with moonlight, in organza in cream, black or soft bronze, and in a taller version if you want more drop.
