Description

Scandinavia is a floor lamp in opal and chrome. Three opal glass plates stacked at the top of a tall polished chrome column: a small flat disc on top, a wide flared plate beneath it, and a deeper straight-sided drum below that. The plates are held clear of each other so light escapes as bright rings between them as well as out of the open bottom. The glass is warm white and evenly diffusing. The column is a plain slim chrome tube running the full height to a flat round chrome disc base. The chrome is mirror-bright against the soft white. It measures 40cm across.

It stands beside a chair or at the end of a sofa, where it puts one pool of light exactly where it is needed without lighting the whole space. That is what a floor lamp is for: it takes the reading light off the ceiling and puts it at shoulder height, so the room can be lit softly and still be worked in.

The holder is E27. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, on a compatible dimmer, provided the lamp you fit is a dimmable one. The fitting has no dimmer of its own.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
