The Sandown Outdoor Chain Lantern brings a heritage shape to porches, entrances and covered outdoor spaces. It hangs from a length of chain, with a four-sided lantern body cast in aluminium and clear polycarbonate lens panels that let the light spread evenly. The finish is a clean matt black, and the fitting carries an IP44 rating, so it copes with rain and splashes in sheltered positions. A single E27 lamp holder sits at the centre, taking up to 60W.

This lantern works well by a front door, over a back porch or beneath a canopy where a hanging light adds a welcoming glow without dominating the space. The adjustable chain drop means you can set the hang to suit your ceiling height, whether that is a low porch roof or a taller open entrance. It suits period and country homes, but the simple lines also settle happily against more modern brick and render. If you are lighting a pair of pillars or a symmetrical porch, two units either side balance nicely.
