Description

Samson is a sand-filled door stop shaped as a long-bodied dog, finished in soft faux fur. The body is a warm sandy beige, with a darker tan across the drooping ears and a small white scarf tied at the neck. A round black eye and a stitched muzzle give him a friendly, characterful face. The whole thing measures 35cm nose to tail, 16.5cm across and 22cm tall, so he sits low and long against the foot of a door rather than standing up tall.

The weight comes from a sand filling, which is what lets a soft toy shape do a real job. He holds a door open on carpet or hard floor and stays put when the door swings, yet he is light enough to pick up and move from room to room with one hand. That makes him well suited to busy family spaces, a hallway, a child's bedroom or a living room where a door has a habit of drifting shut. As a novelty piece he also reads as an ornament in his own right, and he makes an easy gift for dog lovers.

Construction is 100% polyester on the outer, with a filling of polyester and sand together, so the fur pile stays soft while the base keeps its heft. Polyester faux fur is hard-wearing and does not shed the way natural fur can, which suits a piece that lives at floor level. The record gives no laundering instructions, so we would treat him gently and keep him for indoor use. Set him beside a doorframe in a neutral scheme and the sandy tone sits quietly against most walls and floors.

Frequently Asked

How does a soft door stop actually hold a door open?

The body is filled with sand, which gives it real weight at floor level, so it stays put and stops the door drifting shut even when there is a draught.

How big is Samson and where does he sit?

He measures 35cm long, 16.5cm deep and 22cm tall, so he is low and long, sitting neatly against the foot of a door rather than standing upright.

What is the outer made from?

The outer is 100% polyester faux fur, which is soft to the touch, hard-wearing and does not shed the way natural fur can, so it suits a piece kept at floor level.

Is he easy to move between rooms?

Yes. He is weighty enough to hold a door but still light enough to lift and reposition with one hand, which suits busy family spaces where doors move around.

Would this make a good gift?

He is a novelty dog shape with a friendly face and a little scarf, so he makes an easy, practical present for dog lovers and for anyone furnishing a first home.
