This is the middle height of three in the Ruka range: a slim upright standing 60cm tall on a compact footprint, so it reads as a marker of light rather than a tall lamp to sit and read beneath. The body is anthracite, set against walnut, and the LED sits inside the housing rather than in a socket, so there is nothing to fit before switching on. It draws 13W and gives a warm white at 3000K, and it is not a dimming fitting: the light arrives at a fixed level. The sealed housing shrugs off dust and splashing water.

We would use it at low level, where light needs to fall on a surface rather than fill a room: beside a bench in a garden room, along a sheltered walkway, at the foot of a short flight of steps, or in a porch where a taller lamp would be in the way. The warm tone flatters brick, timber and painted walls, and the spread is wide enough to wash the ground close by. It suits anyone building light in layers, and it is one we often suggest in pairs where a path or terrace wants both sides lit.

The finish is a dark, even anthracite with walnut for contrast, chosen to sit quietly against planting and paving rather than pull the eye in daylight. Keep it clean by wiping the housing with a damp cloth, lifting grit off the walnut before it has a chance to mark, then drying the surface off. It carries a three year warranty. The same shape is made shorter and taller if this height is not the one you want, and there is a matching wall lamp in the range, including a version with a PIR motion sensor.
