The Roger 2LED6 is a recessed in-ground light that sits flush within paving, decking or a driveway so it can be walked or driven over. Often called a well light or in-grade light in the US, it directs a single 1W cool white beam upward at 6000 to 6500K, grazing the surface above to pick out a wall, step edge or planted area. The compact round body measures just 100mm across and 74mm deep, keeping the visible trim discreet once it is set into the ground.

Its upward throw makes it best suited to marking boundaries and accenting vertical features rather than lighting an open space, so think building façades, garden walls, tree trunks and the edges of paths or patios. Several units spaced along a run create a rhythm of light up a driveway or terrace without any fitting standing proud of the surface. Because the beam is narrow and aimed straight up, coverage is best judged by the feature it washes rather than a floor area, and it pairs well with deeper recessed dots along a deck for a layered scheme.

Built from steel with a grey finish, the 2LED6 carries an IP66 rating for fully exposed and wet outdoor locations and an IK09 impact rating to cope with foot and vehicle traffic. It runs on a 220 to 240V AC supply and is not dimmable, with an integrated LED rated for around 20,000 hours. The fitting recesses into a prepared ground cut-out and weighs 270g. How should I clean and maintain it?

Wipe the top lens with a damp cloth to clear grit, leaves and surface dirt that can dull the output, and keep the surrounding drainage clear so water does not pool over it. Avoid abrasive pads on the lens. Check the seal seating periodically given its in-ground position.
