Description

The Knightsbridge Renu is a 6W fixed LED downlight with colour temperature switching between 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white and 6500K daylight. The integrated SMD LED delivers 575-635 lumens depending on the selected colour temperature, housed in a pressed steel and polycarbonate body rated IP65 from below and IP20 from above. Fire-rated for 30/60/90 minutes in solid timber joists, 30 minutes in web joists and 30/90 minutes in I-joists, the fitting meets Building Regulations requirements for recessed ceiling penetrations.

Designed for new-build and retrofit installation in residential bathrooms, kitchens, hallways and living spaces, the Renu fits ceiling voids with a minimum 48mm depth and requires a 55-70mm adjustable cut-out. The IP65 rating from the front allows use in bathroom zones 1 and 2 when positioned correctly. Push-fit terminals accept loop-in/loop-out wiring, allowing multiple downlights to be daisy-chained without additional junction boxes. The fitting is dimmable when paired with trailing-edge dimmers — compatibility should be checked before installation.

The 86mm diameter white trim projects just 2mm from the ceiling once fitted, giving a low-profile finish. Interchangeable bezels in white, matt black, polished chrome, brushed chrome and brass are sold separately, allowing the downlight to be respecified without replacing the entire fitting. The Class II construction requires no earth connection. IC-rated for contact with insulation and acoustic-rated for ceiling assemblies requiring sound attenuation between floors. How do I change the colour temperature?

The Renu has a small switch on the driver unit (the purple module visible in the image). Flick the switch before installation to select 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white or 6500K daylight. The colour temperature cannot be changed once the fitting is installed and the ceiling closed.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

Yes. The IP65 rating from below allows use in bathroom zones 1 and 2 when positioned according to wiring regulations. The fitting is IP20 from above, so the ceiling void itself must remain dry.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

A minimum 48mm void depth is required. The fitting itself is 48mm deep, so the void must accommodate this plus any insulation clearance if the ceiling is not IC-rated (this fitting is IC-rated, meaning insulation can be in contact).

Can I replace the white bezel with a different finish?

Yes. Knightsbridge supplies interchangeable bezels in white, matt black, polished chrome, brushed chrome and brass. The bezel clips onto the main body, so you can change the finish without replacing the entire downlight or rewiring.
